and big brother brody ~ {Burlington, Ontario pet photographer}

as promised, here is Brody, big brother to Simon and Rocky who you met over the past couple of days.

Brody is a nine-year-old boxer-lab cross

and although this boy was eager to join Rocky in chasing the salmon in the river …

… Brody was on limited duty due to a mild paw injury the day prior.

so he had to wait patiently and watch from the bank for a good portion of the fish-frenzy.

still, we did give him a little freedom …

and further down river by the red banks, i just love the expressions this boy pulls …

then back home through the woods …

how sweet is this face?

and like his brothers — and almost every scruffy dog client — Brody was pretty pooped after the adventure of our photo shoot.

thanks, Brody, for being such a sweetheart.  and thank you again, Carrie, for sharing your boys with me.  i hope you enjoy their double-wide gallery, and hope to see you soon at your studio consult.

sweet rocky ~ {Burlington, Ontario pet photographer}

this is Rocky, Simon’s older, calmer brother …

although only 5 years of age, Rocky has a calmness and wisdom about him that reminded me of my old man morley.

well, that was until we reached the river full of salmon …

this boy was obsessed with chasing the salmon that were easily twice his size and almost double his weight.  he spent our entire time down there hunting the big fish and chasing them down.

and even from the bank, he wasn’t about to let them go without a good ol’ beagle sendoff …

of course, with that beagle-mentality, we had to keep this boy on the line, and as i always mention on the blog, although lines and leashes are removed from images that go to print, i simply can’t take the time to remove lines and leashes from every photo i post to the blog.

further down the river, with less fish flapping around in the shallow flow, Rocky calmed down a little …

… actually posed a little for the cameras. how adorable is this boy?

in the woods on the way home, he was on high-alert for the horses we’d crossed paths with …

and in the field, his beagle came out …

… and who knew beagles could point?

i just loved this boy’s energy.  as i said, he reminded me of morley, walking along …

… not to mention his equally wicked head-tilt.

of course, i had to capture his cute little folds for mom Carrie.

back home inside, Rocky had one last blast of energy …

before he was out for the night.

stay tuned for big brother Brody’s blog entry tomorrow!

pug-nacious simon ~ {Burlington, Ontario pet photographer}

meet Simon …

small but mighty, cute but fierce, this little guy is a firecracker.  he’s a pug-jack russell cross and barely a year old.  he’s also one of three brothers whom i had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with as a “squeeze-in” session back in October.  as usual, i’m giving them each their own blog entry …

we all had a blast down at the river, although Simon was the least enthusiastic about getting wet …

i only wish i’d brought my hip waders so i could have gotten in there with the three of them.  mom Carrie went in and more than a few times encountered a sink-hole in the riverbed that sent her plunging, flooding her lovely pink rubber boots with frigid water.  what we all won’t do for those great shots.

further down the river we found these awesome, sheer, red banks … but by this time, neither Simon nor his brothers were in the mood to pose.  we’d run into a couple of horseback riders in the woods, and these guys were pretty keyed up to follow the horses.

Simon is the youngest in the family, but he is definitely the one with the most pugnacious personality … pushing his weight around with his brothers, and certainly adept at stealing the Cuz ball i’d brought from brother Rocky.

but when he wants to, he sure can pull off the sweet-and-innocent-me look, can’t he?

and of course, what’s a pug shoot without a tail shot?

thanks for being such a little spitfire, Simon.  it’s good to keep your brothers on your toes, even though i know you’re a handful.

stay tuned for Brody and Rocky’s entries next.  i hope you enjoy them all, Carrie!
