elvis & gracie ~ {Toronto, Ontario pet photographer}

meet the stunning Elvis and Gracie … hounds, extraordinaire.  their session was a long time coming.  they were on the books last November, but the cold weather set in earlier than anticipated and with these thin coated/thin skinned Porcelaine Hounds, we had to reschedule.we rescheduled to May … which was then rained out a few times … and finally got them in in July!  and i have to say, the long-awaited, much-anticipated session could not have gone down any better. and precisely how gorgeous are these dogs?!first of all, both Elvis and Gracie were stellar models.  most hounds are nose to the ground (or the air), and are soon after gone.  but these two were so willing to work, i started to wonder if they were really hounds!  of course, it helped that mom Anne brought along their regular dog walker Miriam for the session.now, normally, i ask that the number of attendees at sessions is kept at a minimum, and with Anne and her daughter in attendance, i would have typically felt this was plenty of hands on-board for dog handling two dogs.  but man, we so benefited from Miriam’s presence at the session.  she knows these two hounds like no one’s business, and knows exactly what it takes to set them up, keep their attention, and – most of all – prevent them from following their noses and just taking off after a rabbit, deer or coyote trail.i had so much fun working with these two, with their color, their energy, their shape, their ears …even their butts.and of course, from the very beginning, Anne was in love with the idea of using some furniture.  in fact, when she booked, i had still been looking for this settee.  we’d shared a few links of antique settees last fall, but hadn’t found anything.the scruffy dog settee seemed made for them … although i think Elvis could be comfortable on just about any piece of furniture.honestly, we could have just left Elvis there on the settee in the woods while we finished shooting Gracie.i had so much fun working with these two … well worth the wait.  thank you, Anne, for choosing me to be the photographer to capture your two incredible beauties.  the honour was absolutely all mine.
