big white dogs ~ {Cambridge dog photographer}

after the cuteness overload of the puppies, i promised you the adults, so here they are now.

first up, old man Theo …

then big man Chance …

hey, can you do this?

and then sweet  mom Oriana …

understandably, one of her favorite spots has turned out to be the puppies’ favorite as well.  you’ll remember a good number of the images from the puppies’ shoot were taken in this same porch corner.

she’s been a good mom, but i think nine pups have taken the wind out of her. i’m sure she’ll be glad when she’s down to one.

hope you enjoy the images, Sue.  see you at your consult!  and thanks, Theo, Chance and Oriana for being so lovely.

… when we have to ~ {Waterloo pet photographer}

a couple of blog entries ago you met Tigger … big, ol’, easy-going, don’t-wake-me-from-my-nap Tigger.  he and the rest of his pride make shooting cats seem easier than shooting fish in a rain barrel … so easy, in fact, i’d be willing to change the business name to scraggly cat photography and start buying fish treats instead of lamb and liver.  alas, there are those cat clients who are the essence of why i’m often heard saying — albeit quite fondly —  “… and cats, when we have to” in reference to what we shoot at scruffy dog photography.

meet Ziggy …

ziggy-29

Ziggy was not at all pleased about our shoot.  in fact, i think he would have rather eaten dog poo than face the cameras.  but for those who know me, you know i never give up on any animal …

ziggy-6

so even though Ziggs wasn’t in the mood and was mostly focused on getting back into the house, i stuck with it … giving him loads of space and using my zoom lens so he could settle.

ziggy-8

ziggy-10

which he gradually did …

ziggy-3

… but not before giving me a few funny faces.  this shot below is my favorite of the shoot.

ziggy-13-edit-edit

thanks, Ziggy for being as brave as you could, and for showing me those lovely green eyes of yours in spite of your fear.  i hope you enjoy your gallery, Nikki.

adopt, don’t shop! ~ {Kitchener dog photographer}

for merrick — our newest scruffy, rescued from a puppy-mill situation, used as a breeding dog for the first six years of his miserable life — the sentiment “adopt, don’t shop” means many things … from a good home at last and a new lease on life, tons of love and good food, to a warm bed (well, our bed to be exact) and owning absolutely every corner of our hearts.

but this little guy definitely pays it forward, applying the adopt-don’t-shop maxim himself by adopting most of his predecessor morley’s toys.

fish-toy-13

no need to go out and buy a slew of new toys when there are so many great ones close at hand to enjoy and give love to.  you’ll notice that ms. fishlips was well loved by morley, took a beating, saw some minor surgery, and is now thriving with great doses of merrick-love …

fish-toy-23

but with merrick, there’s a very fine line between love and pure chaos …

so merrick says, adopt, don’t shop! … because there’s nothing better than a pre-owned, pre-tested, pre-slobbered-on, pre-squeaked, pre-tattered and pre-loved toy.

  • kristinaomg you sweet little thing merik what a lovely guy you turned on =0] so glad you save him and he knows you saved him … lovedReplyCancel

  • Holly Garner-JacksonObviously Morley didn’t beat the stuffing out of this fish so Merrick is has to try to finish the job and whip it into submission.
    Hilarious shots illona. are you sure that cat isn’t stuffed?
    Maggie’s toys have been recycled to Ralph and Izzy, though Ralph got new stuffies since Maggie desqueaked, unstuffed and shredded all of hers!ReplyCancel

  • Márcia AguiarI don’t know how you can stand such overload of cuteness. I would kiss and hug and squeeze Merrick all day long. Gosh, he is too cute to be true!
    I love all the pictures (as always) and love to see how Aslam is absolutely impassive in all pictures, even when Merrick gets mad at Ms. Fishlips. :>)ReplyCancel

  • StephanieI know #1 is a traditional shot, but I love it. He has just blossomed….
    Rescue/rehoming is the finest form of recycling…..with so many fringe benefits!ReplyCancel

  • bublynskiOh, Merrick – you sweetie!!! I love all of these, but especially the last one, the way he’s gazing out into space so absent-mindedly. Whoever kept all this joy and love locked up in a cage should be put into Merrick’s empty one and left there!ReplyCancel
