marvelous macy ~ {Waterloo, Ontario pet photographer}

here at scruffy dog – with a fall shooting schedule that made all previous fall seasons seem like a cake-walk — we’re still behind in processing our fall shoots.  what this means, unfortunately, is less time for blogging.  so if you’re wanting daily photos and fun, let me suggest that you join the scruffy dog facebook page.  seriously, there’s a lot going on over there, including a win-your-own-scruffy-dog-session contest going on right now!  if that’s not enough to convince, i don’t know what is.  :)

but let me introduce you to just one of the lovely models from our past fall … this is Macy.

she’s got the most expressive eyes, as you’ll see in some of her photos, and i loved working this aspect during her session.  we started our session indoors, knowing that she might be getting a little wet and muddy during our session … and i think Macy was already imagining her wild, outdoor session.

one word, and this girl was ready to go.

and the high-in-demand scruffy location was the destination …

besides the tunnel of trees, we also hit the beach.  how gorgeous is this girl against a bright blue sky?

lots of fun at the beach …

and i can never resist the long grasses of late fall, especially with such a gorgeous girl like this.

i think it’s safe to say that this girl had a blast up at our location …

and all this running around builds up a bit of a thirst …

thanks, Tracey and Chris, for sharing your lovely girl with me, and trusting scruffy dog with her photographic memories.

i look forward to seeing you again at your studio consult!

rosie, ebony and champ ~ {Waterloo, Ontario pet photographer}

as i settle in to start work on a couple of large canvases and a 12×12 Best in Show album for three fabulous scruffy models, i thought it high time to share a blog entry about these guys.

for those of you who follow the scruffy dog facebook page, you’ll have already met Rosie, Ebony and Champ.

first up: little Rosie …  as someone whose own life has been touched with a senior jack russell, i might be just a little biased … but i love this girl.  even before arriving, i was told that this 12-year-old madam doesn’t always do well with new people coming into her house and can get a little nippy.  all i can think is that Janice has been inviting the wrong guests over for coffee.  ;)   handling the situation the way it should be handled, working with the dog’s energy, working at her timing, and generally letting her choose the pace, this amazing little girl was posing within minutes and pawing at me for attention.

then there’s four-year-old Champ …

this stunning tripod hails from death row in a shelter in Kentucky.

and then there is the lovely 10-year-old Ebony …

both Ebby and Rosie were adopted from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane society.  and like my former old man Morley — adopted at 9 yrs of age and almost making it to 17 — little Rosie was adopted at 6 years and is going strong. gotta love those JRTs.

but at 10 years of age Ebby is no slouch either!

i had a lot of fun with these three on the beach in spite of the heavily overcast conditions …

and what can i say about Janice’s boots?  as soon as she grabbed them at the house, i already knew they were going to feature in a few shots.  i think i might need to find me a pair of those!

but even before we got the beach, we had some fun in the field.  and one of the main reasons that November is one of my favorite months to shoot in is the long grasses.  and of course, any shoot is extra special when the model brings her own mascara and eye-liner.   good girl, Rosie.

and that eye-liner didn’t even smudge or fade during our session … even with all the running!

and just because he’s a tripod, don’t underestimate Champ’s athleticism!

… or his abilities to search out a vole in the long grass.

like a lot of scruffy dog clients, Janice had fallen in love with the tunnel-of-trees location.  she had visions of this location featuring in a large canvas, and the first image in this blog entry is just one of the big canvases Janice has ordered at a 24×51  dimension.  i can’t wait to see it.

even though i have photographed Ebony in the past, and Champ was new to the family and still learning a lot of commands, and Rosie was an admitted nipper, it was Ebby who posed the biggest challenge in this session.  this girl always looks sad.  coupled with slight camera-shyness, it’s almost impossible to get Ebby’s ears up.  but we did!

thank you, Janice, for sharing your three awesome scruffies with me … more than that, thank you for adopting!

a pack o’ spoos ~ {Waterloo, Ontario pet photographer}

you’ve seen their sneak peeks on the scruffy dog facebook page, but it’s high time we show you all a few more images from the shoot we had a few weeks ago with the pack of standard poodles belonging to Jennifer who owns Pet Pawzazz Grooming Spa here in town.  we had such a great time out in the woods …

this pack of four girls is actually four generations.  Paris is the great grandmother …

then there’s her daughter Memphis …

and Memphis is the mother to Cheeky …

and finally, there’s Cheeky’s daughter, Cocoanut …

… also known as the orangutan.

we had a lot of fun in the woods … lots of running …

lots of leaf-catching …

loads of crazy jumping …

and of course, there were balls …

and lots of spoodle’tude.

of course, great-grandma Paris was the best poser …

and so stunning with her cords …

thanks for letting me capture your pack’s spirit, Jenn.  … an extremely memorable afternoon indeed.

looking forward to seeing you guys at your consult tomorrow.

rosie, ebony & champ ~ sneak peek ~{Waterloo, Ontario pet photographer}

meet Rosie, Ebony and Champ …

these three are all shelter pups.  little, twelve-year-old Rosie was adopted from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society at six years of age …

for a twelve-year-old, this little girl can still go like stink …

then there’s Ebony … or Ebby …

nine-year-old Ebby was also adopted from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society, at the age of one.

and finally, Champ … the tripod rescue boy from Kentucky …

you’ll be seeing more of this trio later in the season as the heavy shooting schedule allows for post work.  so stay tuned!

memphis’s awesome sneak peek ~ {Waterloo, Ontario pet photographer}

what can i say about Memphis?  he’s just so handsome …

some of you may remember Memphis from his first shoot earlier this year … these sneak peek images are from his full-out scruffy session a couple of weeks ago …

but this is only a small taste of what’s to come.  trust me, as the fall schedule permits, you will see a fuller blog entry on Memphis’s big shoot.  so stay tuned to the blog for more, or follow the scruffy dog facebook page for daily photos and special announcements, including blog entries.  really, we’re having a lot of fun over there!
