Roy ~ {Ontario pet photographer}

on this long summer weekend here in Ontario, while a lot of you are enjoying the cottage, i thought it was appropriate to share some beach photos with you all.   so, this is Roy …

and that’s his big sister, Chili, behind him, but you’ll meet her later.  this blog entry is for little Roy …

although Roy and Chili reside in Waterloo, i met them for their shoot out at their cottage along Lake Huron, and thank doG, since it was during our hottest week in July.  as i drove west to the cottage the temperature gauge on the scruffy dog mobile dropped slowly but steadily, and we were afforded a 5-degree drop in the heat and some welcome breezes down on the beach.

enough breezes to give Roy a little lift …

this little 7-year-old Havanese boy was quite at home on the lake.

taking little dips in the water when he needed to cool down …

mostly he was happy to follow the water-line, dabbling his toes, as we made our way down the shore

and then catching the afternoon rays whenever we stopped.

Roy could be a bit of a poser …

… and other times a little shy.

but with his beach-camouflage intact, Roy took the shores by storm …

we shot until sunset … and who doesn’t like walks on the beach at sunset?

you’ll get to meet big sister, Chili, next.  stay tuned.

thanks for showing me your slice of beach, Roy!  hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation!

another dip into the archives ~ {Ontario pet photography}

i have so much fun doing this … i literally go to my catalog of clients, close my eyes, scroll up and down, and blindly click.  then, on the page of thumbnails from their finished gallery, i blindly click again.  it’s fun to see who i come up with.

this morning it was sweet Sasha …

you can see her original blog entry images here.  i love this little girl, and owner Kim is such a fabulous supporter of SDP, and has recently attained her CET (Certified Educator Trainer), so will be helping others help their dogs!

next i blindly stumbled on beautiful boy Bauer …

this was taken during the summer portion of his Winter/Summer session.  here’s his summer shoot, and here’s his winter one (one of my favorite shoots).   owner, Karen, has also been a long time supporter of SDP.

in fact, as i write this i’m only just now realizing the bizarre coincidence of this particular “dipping into the archives” entry this morning!  i swear to you, this is always done blind!  but Karen and Kim are both on board as my staff for Woofstock this summer!  so if you come to visit us at Woofstock this June, you’ll not only meet Karen and Kim, but you might also meet Sasha and Bauer.

have a great weekend everyone.  i’m off to meet a woolly boy named Barkley for his Winter segment.

buster’s big session ~ {Toronto pet photographer}

this is Buster …

you might remember him from his sneak peek earlier on the blog.

Buster’s Serious session spanned several locations, and — as is typical of scruffy dog’s shoots — we’re often stopping along the way, whenever and wherever we find little patches of light or inspiration … whether it’s a little swath of clover on the side of a busy street …

… or the subway station

even the subway car itself.

when owner Giovanna signed her little man up for his Serious session, i’ll admit i was a little concerned when she admitted that he had no training and wasn’t food-motivated.  knowing we were headed for locations where we’d be needing more poses vs. “wild” natural locations where he could run willy-nilly, i wasn’t certain Buster would be up for it.

i couldn’t have been more wrong.  Buster was the consummate poser, and contrary to Giovanna’s booking form, Buster liked my treats just fine.

of course, Buster did give me his signature “look” more than a few times …

but truly, i think Buster enjoyed every minute.  i certainly did.  Giovanna and her little man were a pleasure to share my day with no matter where we went.

and the Distillery District was just an awesome place to hang out and shoot …

gorgeous colours, lots of textures, and – with Buster – lots of expressions …

but of course, no scruffy dog shoot would be complete without some crazy, dog-being-dog, action shots …

and some great skies …

and back home …

dance, Buster, dance!

and i just love Buster’s expression here …

but by late evening, i think Buster was done as he showed me to the door …

thanks for being such a fantastic model, Buster.  i hope you enjoy your gallery, Giovanna.  talk to you soon!

big buster, sneak peek ~ {Toronto, Ontario pet photographer}

just a quick sneak from the Serious Session i had with this smart little fellow the other day.  we hit a few places, the Distillery District was just one of them.  the place was literally crawling with photographers, and i even ran into Marcia Leeder picking up prints.  Marcia is a fellow photographer who shoots a lot of pets in her portfolio.  if you’re not getting enough of a pet fix here, you should check out her blog.

but in spite of the dozens of photographers snapping up the District the other afternoon, i’m pretty sure i was the only one belly-to-the-cobblestones in cigarette butts to get her shot …

you’ll be seeing more of Buster’s shoot soon.  hope you all have a great weekend.

who doesn’t love a scruffy?

i do! i do!  and this little girl is cuter than a whole pile of cutes!

sasha-13

this is 7-month-old Sasha … adorable’ist of the adorables … with a good dose of giddy-up.

and she loves her mama …

still, i was able to coax her into a few good sprints away from her mom …

sasha-87

with a huge gallery of images for mom Kim, it’s very difficult for me to narrow down the images for the blog, so bear with me …

sasha-48

we had a blast in the park across the street … lots of running …

sasha-95

… and jumping …

sasha-195

… and, of course, keeping a close eye on passersby.

sasha-326

a real little poser …

although sometimes she could be a little coy.

after a good romp, we took some photos at a historic home on the park grounds.  an awesome setting for this sweet little girl …
