puppies!! ~ {Ontario pet photographer}

i can’t believe i haven’t put these darlings up on the blog yet!  you’ve seen sneak peeks of them on the scruffy dog facebook page, but the mountain of super cute images from this seven-puppy litter made it almost impossible to narrow down the selection for the blog.

so i figured, why not make it two super cute, irresistible blog entries?  yup, two.  so, don’t adjust your cute-meters and buckle in for the ultimate carnival ride of “awww!” you’ve ever been on!

and there’s almost no point in me writing anything for these entries since you’re all here just for the piles of cuteness anyway, right?

by the time of the shoot, mama Severn had had just about enough of this ravenous, razor-toothed brood …

ah yes, so sweet and innocent …

… not!  just look at these beasts at work!

can you believe that a couple of the new puppy owners actually took on two puppies?  i think their photos are the latest entries in the Wikipedia definition of: “glutton for punishment”.

and who doesn’t like a little puppy butt?

oof!

stay tuned for another dose of puppy coming soon.  and today i’m off to meet a couple more adorable puppies!

goodbye to a member of the scruffy dog family ~ {Oakville, Ontario pet photographer}

it is with deep sadness that i have to tell all of you blog followers about the passing of a scruffy dog great, and our oldest family member, sweet, lovely Cassy.

Cassy is quite well-known amongst scruffy dog clients and followers.  during sessions and studio consults, more than any other previous client, it is Cassy’s name that comes up most often: the 17+ year old golden retriever.

but at 18 years of age, Cassy has said goodnight, and i know Christine’s life will not be the same without her girl.  Cassy’s original blog post can be seen here … and i’m sure some of these images are repeats as I’m simply picking a few of my faves.

i’m so honored to have had the opportunity to meet and spend time with this amazingly strong, proud girl, and to have played even a small part in her 18 years of life by capturing images of her in her golden glory.

Christine, my thoughts are with you and your dad.  i know your heart aches and your house feels empty, but i know Cassy’s indomitable spirit will be with you always.

archive dipping ~ {Ontario pet-exclusive photographer}

still feeling very much under the weather today (more like under a rock that is under a truckload of mucus and slime, truth be told), i thought i would do a quick dip into the archives this morning to give you a couple of scruffy, or not-so-scruffy, faces to brighten your day.  for today’s dip i actually went to one of the external hard drives to find some slobbery goodness … pre-Lightroom-catalogue in the case of this first handsome boy Dexter …

his shoot was from fall 2008, and i had a blast with this big young pup out in the woods.  as i’ve archived blog entries prior to January 2009, his original blog entry isn’t accessible but some of his photos are still some of my faves.

next up in our morning archive-dip is young Marley … one in a pack of three goldens …

the Thompson goldens were pure fun, at home and down by the river.  their full blog entry can be found here. ah, those dog days of summer  …  soon!

i hope your wednesday is more enjoyable than mine … i’ve got phlegm and taxes on the agenda.  but first, a poop-pick-up in the back yard … just because i’m a glutton for punishment.  wags, everyone.

this is sweet Lily ~ {Guelph, Ontario pet photography}

meet Lily …

you met her first here in her sneak peek and again in a quick fall preview.  and the thing about Lily is that she’s happy.  like, always happy.

Lily’s shoot was late summer, but owner Calli – a young vet just starting out her career – was in the throes of returning to Canada, relocating, moving, unpacking, and starting up in a new clinic.  so she asked me to wait to work on Lily’s images until she was more settled and ready to choose photos for her package.

so, at long last, i can share these images of the gorgeous Lily.

did i mention that Lily is a super happy dog?

and she’s super extra happy when there’s catching involved …

and it doesn’t matter where Lily is, she loves catching!

when we finished our little urban segment and headed to the quarry for another couple of hours of shooting, i found this wheat field along the way and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot this gorgeous girl in the golden stalks.  well, to be honest, with the utmost respect for any farmer and his/her crops, i’m always careful to stay on the very edge of the field, never actually entering it myself, and allowing the dog to go in only a foot or so.

but try to get this golden girl to sit still!

there was just no slowing Lily down, whether it was running through the meadows of flowers …

… or cooling off in the quarry.

but with this girl, you had to be quick on the shutter …

i hope Calli won’t be too upset with me sharing this photo … she swore she didn’t want to be in any of the shots, but come on … how could i resist this?

thank you, Lily, for being such a fabulous model.  and thank you, Calli, for introducing me to your lovely girl.  i hope i get to meet Calum some day!  in the meantime, enjoy Lily’s gallery!

the eight-pack: part I ~ {Elora, Ontario pet photographer}

it was a gorgeous fall day when i met the eight-pack that owns Geoff and Joanne in Elora. when Geoff first called me, his intent was to have Luna — their wheelchair-bound greyhound — and possibly Mary the golden as the subjects for our shoot.  but when i discovered that all eight dogs were rescues, i promised him we’d include all the dogs in our shoot.

so, although it was a long afternoon, it was an absolute pleasure to meet and work with all these guys.  and although we were restricted to their backyard, it’s a big backyard.

because i feel each dog deserves their own blog entry, i’m going to spread these guys out across three entries.  first up, we have Sparks …

he was such a joy to work with … a real poser.

and of course, no border collie shoot would be complete without a ball …

thanks, Sparks, for being such a cool model.

and then there’s Mary … your typical easy-going golden …

Mary’s got an infectious smile …

i just loved Mary’s colour with the tones of the front porch …

and, well, it worked quite well in the stables as well.

you can’t really go wrong with a golden, can you?

stay tuned for the rest of this interesting pack tomorrow.
