Norbert, part deux ~ {Ontario dog photographer}

you met him yesterday in his blog debut, and here is part two of Norbert’s blog splash … literally.  but we’ll get to the splashing later.

first, running …

… and more running.

we had an awesome time on the grounds of the spectacular Langdon Hall … such variety and serenity.

of course, a young boy needs to rest up his big fat feet in between adventures …

next up, a dip the swimming hole!

although “a dip” would be a bit of an understatement when it comes to the style and flair that Norbert brings to any body of water, no matter how small.

of course, every wet dog needs a breather on dry land …

and then … zoomies!!!

but for this respectable doodle, the water is forever a lure …

but in the end, every wet dog needs a shake and roll … ahh …

a little over three hours of adventure, and finally … finally i believe Norbert was tiring …

but i still couldn’t resist a few more wet-dog shots in this section of woods …

thanks, Norbert, for being such a fun dood and showing me such a great time.  and thanks, Sarah, for taking us to some awesome locations.

i know i’ve given you a lot of images to choose from.  not my fault you have such a handsome boy!  see you soon for your studio consult, Sarah.

the fabulous Norbert ~ {Ontario pet photographer}

for those of you who follow the scruffy dog facebook page, you’ll already have seen a sneak peek of this scruffy boy Norbert …

some of you might even remember Norbert from our scruffy dog contest earlier this spring.  in the heavily voted-in contest, with over eighty entries, young Norbert finished in the top ten.

we covered a lot of ground during Norbert’s shoot, and because of some awesome locations, the resulting gallery is big on variety … SO big, in fact, that i’ve decided to bring you Norbert in two blog installments.  yeah, two!

first off, we started out — at mom, Sarah’s, request — in the graffiti tunnel …

although still very young — 8 months — Norbert’s obedience training came in handy.  especially when dealing with specific locations like this …

obedience isn’t required for a shoot, but it obviously helps with certain shots and locations.

don’t worry though, after the train tunnel, we definitely allowed Norbert to let loose right after this.  off to some fields of grass …

… and flowers!

how gorgeous are these?

i couldn’t imagine a more stunning backdrop for this gorgeous boy.

rocket-boosters on!

can you find Norbert’s little friend?

and one of my favorites in the golden field …

having come very close to catching a song bird as he flew after it through the flowers, Norbert was full-speed ahead, hoping to rouse up another potential victim.

i think this pup could have run through the yellow flowers all evening if we’d let him.  but we had other places to go.

next stop was Langdon Hall, where Sarah works … and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot on the grand front steps.

apparently Norbert hangs out at the Hall when Sarah works, greeting guests and lounging around.  how awesome is that?

and let me tell you, the staff at Langdon Hall are extremely dog-friendly … not to mention Norbert-friendly.  shooting this boy on the front steps wasn’t easy … every staff member who came through those doors caused Norbert to break his sit and run up for affection … not to mention the attention he garnered from guests in the short window of time we used the entrance.

and the grounds of Langdon Hall are stupendous!  for those out-of-towners (and out-of-province’rs) coming for their scruffy dog sessions and looking for a place to overnight, i highly recommend it as a true, one-of-a-kind get-away with your dog.  beautiful, wooded trails …

breezy fields and country lanes …

a swimming hole and room to run … but you’re going to have to wait for those images.  stay tuned for more of Norbert.

a wild watery time was had by all ~ {Ontario pet photographer}

… or at least, by Norbert yesterday afternoon and evening during our fun shoot.   incorporating a big variety of locations, i have a lot to share of this young man, but thought i’d give you at least a couple of the zanier shots from last night before i have to rush off for some appointments.  having spotted a stick, here young Norbert believes he can walk on water …

… alas …

he is sorely mistaken …

much more of the fabulous Norbert coming soon.

smartypants annie

meet Annie …

annie-751

full-throttle, full-drive doodley goodness.  i love this girl … but then i do love the hunting dogs, and this golden girl certainly took some hunting genes from both her golden and poodle parents. there was something about her energy that reminded me of my own wirehaired girl, although simmered down to a more reasonable and manageable dose.

still, this girl’s head was spinning … always on the lookout for birds as we walked the forest trails and boardwalks through Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens …

annie-1681

… and every squirrel was given a run for its money … or nuts as the case would be …

mom, Linda, was shy of the camera and kept trying to escape out of frame, but sometimes i love capturing owners with their dogs.  so, Linda, sorry … gotcha.  :)   just had to …  your bond with your wonderful girl is too lovely to not want to capture.

annie-174

i certainly did love the backdrop of the boardwalks and its bridges …

Annie, however, preferred getting off the bridges and into the mud.

but all good things must come to an end … and it was back in the car to head home …

… and to Annie’s newly landscaped backyard.

and inside, you would have thought Annie would be pooped after our hours out, but don’t let this photo fool you …

annie-629

this was totally posed.  in fact, this is were Annie’s smartypants, doodley brain shone.  in a matter of seconds she picked up on my gesture for her to put her head all the way down and pose like this.  not many dogs i’ve met at shoots will do this, unless their owners have worked with them previously.  but Annie had it from the first gesture and a treat in the backyard.  in fact, Linda and i were cracking up at how much like a trained model Annie had suddenly become.  i’d love to take some credit for my abilities with dogs, of course, but honestly, Annie’s just a super-dooper smartypants.

annie-652

thanks Annie and Linda, for a memorable afternoon.  and i’m so glad you were able to meet my own crazy girl Matea.
